We currently have 2 chocolates with 5 others in the neighborhood. They are a hunting breed and come in 3 colors – black, yellow and chocolate. They are exceptionally friendly and have a very high need to please their master. This trait makes them excel as search and rescue dogs and guide dogs.

Origins

The Labrador Retriever originally came from Newfoundland where they were used by fisherman, helping to pull in their nets. After being bred with Spaniels and Setters they were bred to work with hunters as a retriever of game.

Is This The Breed For You?

Labs are a great family dog, very loving and friendly. They avg 55-80 lbs. full grown and that might be a bit on the low side for a male. Our female weighs in at 72 lbs. and is not exceptionally big. They have a double coat which means they shed seasonally. They have a short dense coat and little webs between their toes ideal for swimming and they love the water.
